Sharing the Joy of Reading This World Book Day

We love to share the joy of reading all year round and this World Book Day we’ve got some extra special ways in which we’re helping children enjoy the magic of storytelling.

World Book Day Tokens

Have you grabbed your latest copy of our Story Corner magazine? The latest issue is hitting schools, food banks, pupil referral units and children’s hospitals across the country, and we’ve got an extra special book token on page 2.

World Book Day have curated an incredible selection of £1 books and readers will be able to exchange their World Book Day token to get a £1 book for FREE until Sunday 31 March. There are also some amazing audiobooks you can listen to for free.

You can take a look at the latest issue here and you can find a full list of books, and where you can exchange your token here.

Supporting the UK’s Biggest Book Swap

Bookmark is also collaborating with neighbourhood community app Nextdoor, whose ‘Book Swap’ is a community-based initiative encouraging families to share their love of reading and supporting neighbours by swapping books.

They’ll be sharing Bookmark’s volunteering opportunities to encourage users to give the joy of reading to children who need it most in their local communities.

Volunteer with Bookmark

Our Reading Mentors roll-out for 16 and 17-year-olds is offering sixth-form students the opportunity to volunteer with us, accessing the training and support needed to deliver great reading sessions and develop their skills volunteering with children.

You can find out more about how to get your school or college involved here and contact our school's team for more information at readingmentors@bookmarkreading.org.

We’re looking for new volunteers to sign up with us and start their volunteering journey with us before the Summer holidays too. You can find out more about how we’ll support you, and get you trained and ready to go here.
